I am also the organizer of a minisymposium on increasing diversity in mathematics, which I'm very excited about! I think we will have great discussions there.
I will also speak at Gil Strang and Pavel Grinfeld's minisymposium on teaching linear algebra, to talk about the projects I had my students do in one of my classes. They presented at the Cambridge Science Festival, did some independent learning about applications they were really interested in, and had such a blast!...
Interested in toy models, or just toys? Come to the SIAM Annual Meeting Public Lecture, which is happening this year in Boston during the Society of Industrial and Applied Math (SIAM) Annual Meeting. This will be given on Wednesday July 13th, 6:15-7:15pm, by Tadashi Tokieda (director of studies in mathematics at Trinity Hall, University of Cambridge, and Poincaré Visiting Professor, mathematics, Stanford University).
